Closing the App Gap; Focus and Momentum

Part of the “app gap” may be getting a Store App that works. Quoting from the blog post …

we understand that closing the App Gap is crucial to improving usability and making our products accessible and convenient for a greater number of people

Hard core Linux users don’t care about a Store App. They just use the command line. However the masses have the expectation that if there’s a GUI application to install software then it works i.e. “accessible and convenient for a greater number of people”. It has never worked 100% reliably for me.

Example of expectations: PureOS Store apps not loading, store search function not working

I also never use the PureOS Store because most of the time it does not work. I had similar issues on Fedora with Software (gnome-software) application, but nowadays it works way better than before. When PureOS will be more current, I guess that the improvements in gnome-software will also reach PureOS. So, in that sense upgrading PureOS is also part of closing the “app gap”.
