My Librem 14 has PureOS factory installed and right before the LUKS prompt the following appears for a couple seconds:
firmware: failed to load i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_04
EC, Coreboot and PureOS are up to date. Can I fix this?
Don’t. It’s not an error, not a problem. Just ignore.
If you search this forum, you will see masses of occurrences of this warning, not because it’s a problem, but because it is the last message that happens to be output if there is some other unrelated problem. 
Example hit: Failed to load DMC firmware (more info requested)
Yeah in an ideal world Purism would find some way to suppress this message.
