After three years of using my Librem 5, and now four months of not using it anymore, I’d like to sell it. Reasons are:
- I could use some money
- it is a shame to have the device collect dust, when others could make use of it
Looking back at my posts here I got the phone in late 2021. I’ve been using it as my main portable internet device from then on, until late 2024. Most of the time I had an additional simple telephone with me, since both software stability and battery runtime made the Librem 5 unreliable. Still I enjoyed using the device, and I still think I’ll get back to a true Linux phone eventually. But since I need more reliability and have less tinkering time right now, I got back to Android one more time.
In late 2023 the display cracked from a drop. It does not look pretty, but the cracks hardly have any impact on usability. I applied a screen protector after the incident, to avoid further damage.
Charger, original packaging, and an additional original battery are included.
I just flashed the recent Mobian (Debian Trixie) using librem5-flash-image. This is nice to see what the phone can do (recent Phosh, web browsers, Maps), but probably not a good choice to use as “daily driver”, since automatic sleep is not activated, and the battery drains quickly.
I could not get the SD card reader to work. The WiFi performance is the worst I’ve seen in any device. Mobile data works ok.
Send me a personal message if you’re interested in buying this! We’ll figure out the price, payment, and shipping. Considering how special and rare the system still is I think a fair price would be between 100 and 200 €.
