Sure there will be huge gradient from the surface to the die, however thermal junction must be insulated so overall it will act as thermal insulator rather than conductor for heat dissipation so the die will come to thermal halt or meltdown (if halt was not fast enough). CPU cooling should remove the heat from the die fast, then you can think of recuperating that energy.
