It’s just a matter of time. They have to be at a price people are willing to pay and stable enough for manufacturers to mass produce. 2TB is the maximum amount the microSDXC spec allows, thus if *XC is supported, then up to 2TB will work.
good luck filling up 2TB with less than 100 Mbps write speed …

i’d buy an IR sensor module from Purism if it was available for purchase from the web-site …
there are some usb-c ir transmitters on amazon if you really wish to go this way 
otherwise you may use CEC over kodi or likes controlled over wifi.
