I believe Mycroft released the backend code, and you are able to run your own server, but it is difficult to set up (if I am reading this correctly).

Purism could consider building a small PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) for home use.
Using basic ladder logic programming most home related task can be accomplished.
There are many Input & Output devices (boards) that fit standard mounting racks.
The big hurdle is a server / PLC / control unit running on Linux with the open source drivers to allow communication between various Input Output devices. See https://info.opto22.com/raspberry-pi-io
The I/O hardware is there, a reasonably smart Control Unit & software to build on is the missing link.
Opto 22 has many I/O devices as do other companies.

I’ve heard from several places that Ring provides video data to law enforcement. If a car is trying to outrun and hide from the police, the police can literally follow the car from one house to the next on video, as the car passes each house’s doorbell cameras in areas that have a high Ring usage. This is not necessarily a bad thing. But who else is watching and what are they watching for? Did you read every page of that twenty-page agreement, and consider all potential implications?
