You can’t really just switch to a new one, it’s not easy because it doesn’t follow the UNIX philosophy
It’s complex, huge and it’s not only an init system, it has become a
swiss army knife that’s hard to replace.
So to avoid this walled garden, the easiest way I see in this case, would be by forking Devuan instead of Debian.
