I do not know what else to tell you to stay here as no much reason exept the community.

This community is still great, but I am more aligned with Qubes OS, their team, and their community now. I care more about achieving results, not holding on to unfulfilled hopes and dreams.

Deleting Discourse accounts is not easily possible after a certain post threshold, but I would not want to deliberately do so anyways. My public contributions serve as proof of work and stake, to inspire others (including myself) to improve upon or against them and/or to further my reputation. I have no intention of posting after today, so I suggest assuming any further activity after today originating from this account on the Purism community forums as malicious/untrusted.

As you loved HKS on L14, it nova computer ship HKS? why replace L14 for something less security?

I want to take the chance to ask you something more before you go: assuming that you at some point were thinking that freedom with respect to hardware is important, and that there should be hardware manufacturers who try to create hardware that is ok from a user freedom perspective. Do you still think that is important, or have you changed your mind about that? If you still do think it’s important, are there other companies rather than Purism that we should know about? (You mentioned Qubes but I guess that’s software, not hardware?)

Unfortunately the NovaCustom laptops do not have hardware kill switches, so instead I will need to permanently remove the internal microphone and webcam as a value-added configurable option. In exchange, I am responsible for bringing and using an external microphone and/or webcam whenever necessary. It is also better to improve my security practices by using Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi, so I can use and bring a CAT8 cable around while not installing a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module to begin with.
The Librem 14 has been discontinued, and Purism has failed to follow through with implementing the write-protect dip switch during its product lifespan, along with updating the hardware and/or firmware of the Librem Key. In the world of security, using obsolete or discontinued products with no further updates, whether hardware, firmware, software, open-source or not, can seriously jeopardize a user’s security model. I do not consider these lack of security implementations and updates excusable, so I must formulate a solution that does not rely on trusting Purism to get things done, especially when there is no direct successor immediately available for purchase.
It is still as important as ever. The Mosaichord currently champions those ideals, and the LinnStrument before that is also a very strong contender, although the Arduino Due pins on the latter are not natively exposed.

I am not aware that that is correct. Citation needed. Perhaps @JCS would like to set the record straight.
The delivery page says “Out of stock | New Version in Development | Coming Soon”, which for sure if you actually wanted to buy (another) one would be an obstacle of unknown duration.

Okay, it was based on my interpretation of the product listing in the shop:
In theory, it is possible for Purism to have the Librem 14 v1 and v2 in stock at the same time, but in practice, that has not happened with any of their product lines (Librem 5 USA → Liberty, Librem Mini, Librem Key, Librem Server).
The Librem 14 product line has not been discontinued. L14v1 is out of stock but will continue to receive support, and L14v2 is in development. The Librem Key is also roadmapped to receive hardware and firmware improvements; the virtues of frequent security evaluations and firmware updates are not lost on Purism, and they will only make PureBoot more and more secure over time, especially since R&D funding is expected to ramp up very soon.
I’ve seen version successions in the past either experience a gap in product availability or a seamless transition. This is dependent on a multitude of factors but, ultimately, the goal is clearly to always have product in stock.

Right, unfortunately speculation of releasing (security) products and/or services at the whims of Purism’s (lack of) interest and/or resources is no longer part of my decision making process.

You are always encouraged to make decisions best for your needs. I am simply answering questions, not trying to convince you to stay. You will be missed, and we’ll be here if/when you should decide to return.
