Phofono query

this might be of the topic. Not sure if anyone knows that there is a application for combine call/sms/mms/contact called Phofono from FL1xs, I tried it, it was really nice and much better than chatty. Was wondering if anyone has tried it.

Did you try it on a Librem 5 with PureOS?

Is it free software?

How did you install it?

If I understand it correctly, it’s a GTK4 port of GUI part of the oFono stack (originally Qt). The title from their github ( Alaraajavamma / Phofono · GitLab ) is:

Phofono - Phosh loves oFono - first stable release 1.00

And it also says:

Why?

Because I did not understand how to fix some issues what annoyed me I started to build project which I could understand - this is not best method but hey it is something, right? Phofono interacts directly with ofono and the Evolution Data Server to provide a seamless experience.

oFono

oFono + Maemo it would have been wonderful for L5.

ModemMananger + Phosh it is a complete disgrace for L5. Even worse Phosh it now on Gnome hands which is a super evil foundation.

NOW every time i use Phosh(v34) on L5, i feel like i am using a Android device or Iphone so i end throw my L5 into the box.

I not happy as Phosh looks like for my dreamed Librem 5 nor Phosh performance

Full shameless Phosh, Gnome team

Yeah, that is the one. I just tried it on the Flx1s. I feel it is very intuitive than Chatty so far. For my Liberty phone, so far still using back ports chatty for the Crimson.

And Matrix does also work with Phofono?

Oh, i think Phofono is a better mms/sms/phone app but for chatty like multiple protocols, i don’t think Phofono supports it, I didn’t try and don’t think the settings have it. But I don’t use chatty for matrix though, it is quite slow. I use fractal so far. But if Phofono somehow can work on L5, that is another alternatives other than spacebar and chatty.
