Good points.
I do know (without doing any of that, which I will do) that the phone thinks it’s charging so I know it’s at least getting something though it might not be as much as it could handle.
And to be clear … that may mean that the phone thinks that it has an external power source. Whether the battery is charging is a separate question. The distinction is quite pertinent in the scenario that you are experiencing.
