These are all interesting developments.
I have a separate satellite texting device that I use for hiking. I use it for safety (e.g. torn muscle, cryptosporidium, etc.) and as a way to let my wife know when I would likely be at the next trail access.
I find it odd that “text from anywhere” will be a part of new phones.
