Crimson is a huge disappointment - they did not even fix the error that alters the screen scaling after reboot. Flashed Crimson on the Librem 5 and the annoying issues remain. Poor job.
Question regarding Crimson:
How can I make the Librem 5 OS keep the chosen screen resolution unchanged / fix / persistent after reboot of the phone?
Or the resolution you want to apply (this code makes 150%). Save it in /etc/phosh/phoc.ini.
Poor job? Not really. Purism did not develop for a whole year and now the devs have to catch up (which are actually doing a great job). There is just not much that will be developed beside making Crimson the next stable distro.
The “fix” or better first implementation of that feature will come with PureOS Dawn. It is part of the Phosh project and was implemented on a newer version than we run on Crimson. Dawn will bring a lot of improvements, much more than Crimson.
There is no such path nor such file.
/usr/share/phosh/phoc.ini does exist. It does not work at all. Always 200% (a.k.a. bullshit).
Creating the /etc/phosh/phoc.ini
and then putting
[output:DSI-1]
scale = 1.25
into it does the job successful! THANKS!
You’re right, a long year of invisible progress lasting from 2023 when I obtained the phone (should charge the spare battery soon) and 2026 when I flashed Crimson beta on the phone …
In the meantime I purchased other quite privacy friendly devices: A German
Volla phone *)
which is of very good quality and a new Finnish
Jolla G2
phone (the latter in daily use, good stuff) to check public transport and conduct phone calls if I have to.
Seriously:
If Dawn is released this decade it will be very welcome!
And if I myself cease before Dawn … who cares?
*) Volla phone is actually Made in Germany by Gigaset, modified by Volla in Remscheid … still absolutely no need to procure a red-china made Trump-Phone
