Web video playback

I’ve just changed the refresh rate to 50fps in pureos and the video is far far better than 2 days ago. there is still a double frame every few seconds but its a lot less jarring. Its strange how videos are still done at 25fps when most OSs run at 60.

down-clocking a monitor is not dangerous … over-clocking a monitor through the EDID is …

Anyone know how to check the frame rate of a Youtube video (in Firefox)?

Right click stats for nerds I’d assume

For some strange reason, when I tried that earlier it doesn’t show the frame rate. However it is showing it now, so all good.

Anyway I have my display set to 60 Hz and watching that 25 fps video, I don’t experience any judder.

yes, 25 fps played on 60fps display can be acceptable, as frames are displayed twice with every third or fourth displayed three times. THis gives smooth enough playback, (there might be some stutters still visible when camera pans slowly across the scene, but otherwise it is very hard to notice).

If desktop framerate is slower then 60 fps, however, the interference becomes very visible and annoying.
