Wouldn’t a Debian downstream distro include the self-same “eyes” on them in the total management calculus or at least approximately? Debian + customized packages can be calculated as Debian maintainers plus customized package maintainers. I do not recognize a deficit here.
While I have not run Debian 10 specifically, I have not had one single issue installing any Linux distro (I’ve played with a few including Elementary, Kali, and Pure OS) and have yet to have an issue with the installation including device drivers.
