Thanks for update notice. I received Librem 5 almost a month ago then realized l needed AWEsim rather than simPLUS so l ordered that.
Everything is here but unactivated. I am lost and each step confuses me more. My knowledge of cell and cyber technology is only what l have gleaned from examining hacked phone data over 2+ years.
Not an efficient or applicable way of knowing how to navigate terminology, systems or hands-on usage. Debian, Python, all the programs, packages and systems mentioned are foreign. Now a new camera option which may as well be presented in Sanskrit.
Clearly l am in over my head. I have no working knowledge of modems, bandwidths, advantages of Amy products over another. Why one carrier works but not all and none in some areas and all in others.
3 cell towers within 3-5 meters but not even broadband or landline is good on one. How am l to get practical use of the private phone l need? In my area placing calls is uncertain. Sending texts is uncertain. No camera? Apps must be trial and error. Locally, that:s true even for ‘techies’.
PURISM for me is a wonderful concept alas one unlikely in my grasp at my age and place.
I encourage PURISM to expand on Support, which is great, by exploring an advocacy/screening/ Introductory panel available by request initially so those who chafe at the hint they might need help wouldn’t be offended.
All l read was how privacy and security were finally addressed in a cell phone.
I need to return this gem. I need it but realize my capacity to understand and navigate is lacking. I haven’t time for the challenge l would have welcomed earlier.

Addition - l inquired about canceling the order and was told it had just shipped that day.
I can retrieve the response but it left me with the consideration no returns or changes were entertained thus this ‘new’ announcememt which popped up as l searched for a way to change email addresses was surprising as l took ‘no’ to the cancellation to also include returns.
I am not pleading rather asking reconsideration of the amount of unfamiliar data new customers are told to absorb and extremely limited time with a borrowed cell phone (no PC or tablet) to try and get under my belt.
All on my plate in the end as l was desperate for service free of man n middle and never considered the limitations accompanying privacy and complicated operations for daily use.
