After flashing Crimson no Wifi/Bluetooth

After flashing the current Crimson (librem5r4.img from Mon May 18 19:57:06 2026) on my Librem 5, Wifi/Bluetooth is no longer working in the sense that it seems the card is not recognized at all. I opened the phone and I have a Redpine Signals cards, perhaps the image expects a more recent card?

Has anybody experienced this issue and knows how to resolve it?

I have the Redpine Signals card and WiFi continues to work fine after an in-place upgrade from byzantium to crimson (and applying all updates subsequently as and when they come in). So I don’t think there is an inherent incompatibility between crimson and the Redpine card.

I understand that that is not the same upgrade path as directly flashing a crimson image.

What operating system version was on the phone before you reflashed? Was WiFi working at that time? What instructions or process did you follow for the reflash?

Anything in the system log messages about the card?

Starting point: I had the latest Byzantium on the phone with working Wifi. Then I attempted an upgrade to Crimson beta with pureos-upgrade maybe 2 month ago.

This bricked the phone during the upgrade process. I was not able to start the phone anymore. Because of this I did the reflash with the bricked phone.

For flashing I followed these instructions:

This did succeed in the sense that everything seems to work fine now except the Wifi/Bluetooth.

I never used a SIM card with the phone, Wifi is the only way to connect to the Internet for me.

It works now, the card is being recognized!
It seems that it made a difference that the phone was sitting overnight without the battery!? Sorry for the trouble that I caused.
(I did try before several times to fix it by removing the battery for 10+s and even reflashed the phone once without fixing the issue.)

Hmmm. A bit strange. But at least it’s working now.
