I was able to download and run Eclipse for Java. It’s not the same, since Android Studio is based on IntelliJ. But Eclipse worked despite having having worse performance than on a desktop PC. It was right on the borderline between frustrating and usable, due to lag, but I would say it was usable.
Can you elaborate maybe on what you’re trying to do? Running Waydroid on Librem 5 can be a fairly decent experience despite a long boot time. So, I as able to get Google Play on there and install apps from Play Store such as Slack for business, Microsoft Authenticator, Microsoft Outlook, and whatever else my work required. Google will sort of attack the hardware and overheat it and cause constant notifications that “Google Play doesn’t like Librem 5!” but all that crap goes away if we follow the tutorial on the Waydroid wiki for how to add your Waydroid android ID to the self-approved device list on Google login.
Edit: So, per the above, maybe you could run Android dev tools made for Android like AIDE and get a better experience?? I havent tried.
NOTE: I bought two librem 5’s and only tainted one with the above tech. I don’t actually advocate putting all that Google crap on the L5 if you care about data privacy. I became convinced some of the Waydroid components were running on the device after reboot even when I did not intentionally run Waydroid as a user.
