Not following. How would I use the XL touchscreen from the L5?
I mean … the Librem 5 displays its output on the lapdock and touch events on the lapdock’s touchscreen are correctly processed on the Librem 5 i.e. have the correct observable effects on the state of the Librem 5’s GUI. In other words, the lapdock display and touchscreen replace the Librem 5’s display and touchscreen - assuming that that is the way you have set things up.
Ok, right, no touch actions are occurring when I touch the XL screen. I’ve double checked the gsettings I used and it all seems correct. Since the OSD is touch based, that is working, so the XL screen is working fine.
I was able to use the XL as a 2nd monitor with my L15 using the hdmi port and it worked nicely in that capacity. Watch a movie on it
Also, I spent a great deal of time today working with the L5 plugged into the XL. Except for the lack of touchscreen capability, everything else worked pretty nice. The screen is a very nice screen, so that was great to work with. The sensitivity of the touchpad needs to be changed. It’s not the most responsive. I have a bluetooth protoarc xk01 keyboard with touchpad which works beautifully with the L5. That touchpad is much more sensitive and responsive than the XL. And since the touchpad is wired to the L5 via the usb-c, it must be a config?!
Also, from a charge perspective, the XL has more than enough juice to keep the L5 fully charged while using it. So, the power aspects seem to be nice.
Also, I flipped the XL into tent mode while connected to the L5, and the display automatically adjusted That was nice! So, If I wanted to use my protoarc BT keyboard/touchpad that becomes a viable option. And at 15.9" it is a very nice screen.
At this point my biggest complaint is the lack of a good palm rest when using the keyboard, and having the touchpad off to the side. I have tendinitis so my hands get more sensitized if I don’t have a good palm rest. Using it today, I was on a table, so that ended up working fine. If I use it on my “laptop” though, my arms start screaming fairly quickly. Just not comfortable or convenient.
Then I think that you would be hoping for someone else, as per topic title, who has bought the Nexdock XL!
The one observation that I would make is that I am using the lapdock display as the primary and sole display i.e. phone display turned off / not joined or mirrored.
(I actually also have a mini-mouse for use with the lapdock so I am not overly dependent on either touchscreen or touchpad - so I may not have noticed some gremlins - but both do work for me.)
