Apt autoremove wants to remove purple-mm-sms

My PureOS Store is not working due to Gnome-software (PureOS store) no longer starting, so I’m using apt from console.

It shows me:

The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
libxmlb1 purple-mm-sms
Use ‘apt autoremove’ to remove them.

But from what I can see in this forums, purple-mm-sms is needed for SMS and MMS (State of MMS on Librem 5)

Is there something missing on my system?

It seems okay to remove purple-mm-sms now, I just removed it and verified that I can still receive MMS afterwards,

The purple-mm-sms package was needed earlier but apparently not anymore, I’m not sure why but it could be that the functionality has been built into either chatty of mmsd-tng or some combination of those. Probably @kop316 could explain it to us, if he has time and if we ask nicely.

I can confirm purple-mm-sms is no longer necessary for chatty. As SMS are no longer handled via libpurple. So it can be removed.
