Hi
I would like to know where can I check if my new ASUS is compatible or PureOS has drivers for ASUS ? because PureOS is my favorite Linux OS, and I do know that PureOS is based on Debian and they do not always have the newest drivers. But the new ASUS is with Intel CPU and GPU. I hope someone can help me out here ?
I suggest that you:
-
fetch the latest PureOs install image from their ofiicial site
-
dd it to a USB stick
-
launch the live USB and see what happens
report here if everything works fine, or otherwise describe what doesn’t and maybe we can help solve some issues or give advice.
(my experience with Zenbook is that usually the proprietary discrete GPU won’t work and has to be disabled for the machine to boot - but the Intel iGPU should work fine)
Perfect I will do that and in the next week I will report back here. thank you very much for your response
If it’s a really current Intel CPU then it will come with an ARC GPU and that can be problematic. So best to mention the exact model of CPU.
Why is that? Intel i915 open source driver not working with this GPU?
Also we should, as usual, expect problems with newer WIFI/BT with only closed source blobs…
The OP needs to mention the exact model of CPU.
Different recent CPUs need all sorts of recent kernel versions + drivers + firmware.
