Help !
I am running the latest version of Byzantium on a Mini
trying to do a backup using “Backups”.
I got it running but I have to keep clicking on “forward” to keep it running.
It seems to re-scan the same files each time, then stops and requires I select “Forward” again for a new cycle.
I’ve spent almost a day and clicked “Forward” over a dozen times so far. Finally gave up.
I would like to initiate a backup and let it run while I sleep.
I tried backing up again. Same behavior: it scans the same 10,000 files then asks for the password and I press “Forward” and it starts the cycle again.

Hmm, so it defaults to backup your home folder except the trash and downloads.
Maybe you can try running it in the terminal to see if any messages come up? The command is deja-dup
I entered the command “deja-dup” into the terminal and the response was
“(org.gnome.DejaDup:4016): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 10:12:11.235: g_object_set: assertion ‘G_IS_OBJECT (object)’ failed”
Mine says the same thing in the terminal, but I have been able to successfully create backups. So it would be reasonable to assume that is not the error that’s causing you issues.
When it is asking to press “forward” again during scanning, is it for the same directory? If it is, and the directory is not something you require, you can go into the settings and tell Backup to ignore it and see if it makes smooth progress.
Otherwise, you can use the terminal to run the CLI application that deja-dup is based on, duplicity
Another option is exploring other backup GUI applications. It’s been awhile since I have explored other backup applications, so it might be good to do an internet search to see what are all the options and if they meet your needs.
