calls: no audio for other person! Videos not saving.

I’m on mint about an hour or two after this issue mints network was having issues, and the phone couldn’t connect, but I’m not sure if thats related. Phone has since connected back to the network but still having calls issue.

The other person can’t hear me on the phone. When trying to leave a message nothing comes though on their end. I can hear them but its very quiet. Checked for updates, there was one, it didn’t change anything after update. Can record a voice memo with “sound recorder” so the microphone is working. I noticed videos aren’t saving on my phone when trying to diognose the issue and see if the mic works. , but thats probably a different issue.

volume is up on phone, mic volume is at 50% and the red bar shows the background audo its picking up. When on calls and going to sound all the bars that show up for that are up. Theres one thing “system sound” which is always off on the bar. but I think that’s the default setting? When I turn it all the way up and then exit it goes back to all the way down. I can turn it all the way up in the phone call and it does nothing. cant figure out whats going on.

Update: Mint service came back online but the phone is still having the issues with calling and the other person not being able to hear me. They said they only hear echo of themselves on their end. When I left a voice mail they said there was no audio when listening to the voice mail on their end.

Sounds like (hah) you have audio but the wrong device(s) is used for the call. There are other similar threads that may have clues (for instance) - one of them got solved because they had conflict with Dino. For more troubleshooting, make a call and look/test the sound settings (can you get something to work - like if you connect headset. You could also install pavucontrol to see if that shows other options. You could also try resetting the sound profiles: rm .config/pulse/*, then reinstalling pulseaudio to getting them back with sudo apt reinstall pulseaudio, and starting the service just for good measure with systemctl --user start pulseaudio.

i dont have something with a mic i could plug in, tho i could look for one to test. tried the command but the 2nd one didnt work. could be something im not doing right.

Sorry, my typo: sudo apt reinstall pulseaudio (no hyphen and you can use just apt instead of apt-get [I corrected it to the previous]).

the command fixed it! thanks!
