Camera (Dev Preview) app crashing

You have to install apt install rsyslog.

ā€¦ if you want log journal messages to go into /var/log/syslog

Today Iā€™ve compiled successfully rel0.21 and still getting very same errors. Therefore I think that complementary package to the libcamera in version 0.0.3-4 might be needed in order to make millipixels functional without any errors (as already posted ones).

I just guess that when Iā€™m trying to install libcamera0.0.3 that I should not get below error:

purism@pureos:~$ millipixels
millipixels: error while loading shared libraries: libcamera.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

libcamera-doc | 0.0.3-2 | all
libcamera-ipa | 0.0.3-2 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390x
libcamera-tools | 0.0.3-2 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390x
libcamera-v4l2 | 0.0.3-2 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390x
libcamera0.0.3 | 0.0.3-2 | amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390x

EDIT: rel0.21 works great for myself anyway!

You totally should, we do not support 0.0.3. That would also explain the error. Use our libcamera.

Yes, maybe Iā€™ll compile, in addition, latest libcamera within next few days, but at this moment Iā€™m indeed using libcamera0_0~git20220628+27cc0a6b-1pureos3_arm64.deb.

libcamera v0.0.4 it already there, https://git.libcamera.org/libcamera/libcamera.git/ i hope that Purism programmer Dorota perform top versions plus gpu acceleration.
As sailfishos already ship libcamera v0.0.3 for Shutter camera app.

Not yet, but I made a private branch to swap millipixels to libcamera completely.

Separately, thereā€™s a new release candidate if you want to try https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/millipixels/-/merge_requests/87

Nice, thanks! Where are the videos stored? Couldnā€™t find them in home, Pictures or Videos

gnu: retry: sudo apt install dcraw the video should be there in Video folder.

Newest version already installed

Does it work for you? Are there any other ideas?

Of course, everything up to date. Byzantium. Got the phone 2 days ago so propbably newest hardware.

The Video not worked before on me, but after troubleshooting then i see that the dcraw package was missing then after install worked good.

Install all .deb packages from Camera(millipixels) folder, then run in console: millipixels to see logs, try recording a video to see mensages in the console.

Thanks it work really good, now i shot better pictures.
Dorota any ETA for 10bits for the main/back camera sensor?

Uh oh. Thanks, Iā€™ll have to fix this.

Dunno. <2 years maybe?

It was ffmpeg missing. After installing that, video capture works fine. Nice feature :sunglasses: Viewing in Celluloid (Flatpak) showed only audio but in VLC playback worked!

Please use Clapper for video player for L5. Clapper it using fully hardware acceleration for Purism L5.
Key features of Clapper for L5:

  • powersave
  • heatsave
  • stutersave
  • cpusave

@dos?? 10bit for main back camera sensor driver?

I will try that, thanks! Hopefully this does not count as off-topic as video playback of recorded videos is imo a part of the camera app/stack. Video playback without hw-acceleration sucks the battery empty in seconds for each percentā€¦

Edit: Clapper works fine!

IIRC there was some video decoding acceleration done. But I donā€™t know the current status.

Do we select the ARM64 version?

Yes arm64ā€¦
