Can the Librem 5 take videos?

I just updated my Librem 5 after not using it for some time. I see an app called Camera (dev) that has basic functionality for taking a picture. There is a Rec button that changes to Stop when pressed, but I can’t seem to make it take a proper video. If I search the PureOS Store for ‘camera’, nothing appears.

PureOS 10 (Byzantium)
Gnome Version 3.38.5
Wayland
sudo apt update shows All packes are up to date.

Yes, that’s it. When you press the “Rec” button it starts recording video, when you then press “Stop” it stops and then it shows “Busy” for a while, I guess while the video is being processed. Then the resulting video file ends up as a .mp4 file in the ~/Videos/ directory. If you look in that directory, maybe there are some files from your recording attempts?

Thanks, the video files appeared in the /home/purism/ directory. I expected them to show up where the camera pictures go, which happens to be ~/Pictures/.

When I film and there are variations in luminosity, there’s a time lag between the image and the sound. Sometimes it goes so far as to completely cut off the movement of the image… does this happen with your L5 too? Do you think we can expect it to be fixed soon?

I haven’t tested that much, for me I see it as one of the many things that are not worth digging into until PureOS Crimson is ready. Best to get Crimson working first, then make sure things work on Crimson.
