I’ve been trying to get matrix to work better within my Librem 5 without having to rely on Waydroid too much.
I have verified my matrix account within Chatty, public chats are not an issue but of course private chats are, due to me and my receivers not able to decrypt them, despite th he fact that I can read my on encrypted messages on other matrix clients and devices.
Is there something else that I need to do to get the encryption and decryption process to work successfully?
It might help to do the “verify device” thing, to verify the Chatty device from one of your owther devices. You should be able to see a list of all your devices and see if all of them are verified or not. If the device running Chatty is unverified then choose “verify device” (or something like that) and then you get asked to verify that a set of emijis match.
Could it be that the others have unverified devices? I mean the people who cannot read your messages, maybe they need to make sure that all their devices are verified?
I think this can depend on settings for the matrix room in question, the admin for the room can choose to make the room behave more strict so that it refuses to decrypt in cases when there are unverified devices.
I just used an Element app I was using on another device to end the session there aka removing access from Chatty (in Privacy & Security) then tried it again through that same app.
I tired going through ‘Verify on this device’ before but succeeded using ‘Verify on other device’ instead
