I’m not sure who or what group are responsible for Chat so if it’s Purism, read on. If the build of it is someone or some where else can you tell me where? Else read on please.
ISSUE:
I receive a chat that simply says “Do you want zucchinni” (Yes, I know it’s spelled ‘zucchini’ but I’m quoting the Chat.)
I replied with “and tomatoes if ur overloaded”
Please look at the image below to see what Chat does with a simple line of text.
You can see on the left a text that arrived (with arrow pointing to it.)
I replied with “and tomatoes if ur overloaded”.
then the additional two copies of incoming (with red ? beside them) arrived.
The sender was adamant that they only sent the one.
After that two more texts were sent by me to same recipient. Neither texts I sent were received.
Is it possible it’s the carrier, sender, sun spots, or my Chat app?
This happens a lot until so many that even if I delete the chat, after reboot, they all come back with even more copies.

Hmmm. Maybe the extra 2 I get are free Free Freedom Freeware.
Duplicates can be confusing.
I think the problem is I ended up with old parts.
Ghosted again. What ever. It is what it is.
Thanks for the feed back.

I have a reproducer for this:
Suspend the system (“suspend to RAM / sleep”).
Receive an sms.
now if your modem has WOWWAN enabled the system wakes up and does the notification.
Now don’t do anything and let the system suspend again.
Wake up the system using a button
SMS notification comes as “new” again, and the SMS is really duplicated in chatty.
It would seem that Martin Kepplinger shows how duplicates can happen.
It doesn’t fit my issue, but it’s very close I think.
The above is strictly a FYI.
I haven’t looked it up yet about how to find out if your modem has “WOWMAN” or not but I’ll look it up later, unless someone chimes in with it.
