Current state of Librem 5 usability?

If you’re referring to Axolotl, I installed version 1.2.0 earlier this week with a .deb file from here:

I had to install some dependency that the .deb file complained about before it would install, but eventually it installed. I think the first time it launches it takes a very long time to open, if I remember correctly.

If you’re referring to Signal, I installed the Flatpak for it as instructed here:

I apologize for being unclear.
I was wondering about how to get MMS working on my L5 with AweSIM (and you have succeeded).

Sorry, I was confusing your original reply with another thread about Signal. My bad! Here are some screenshots that hopefully will help:

Preferences in Chatty:

Access point settings under “Mobile” in Settings:

Note those settings are for at&t. Yours will be different if your carrier isn’t at&t or an at&t mvno.

Thanks to both.
I’m using AweSIM (AT&T) with the above settings and MMS still is not working.
SMS is.
Under Mobile > Access Points > AweSIM Internet, do I need to add a Username and Password?
(Stock L5 with Byzantium)

Do you have mobile internet and possibly roaming data turned on? I did not have to enter a username and password.

Yes, both are on and I do send/receive SMS

I don’t know, then. I guess reach out to Purism support?

Is moblie data working? i.e. data with wifi turned off?

Mine works on the PureTalk carrier (also on AT&T backbone).

Under the Mobile data settings:
Mobile Data set to on (obviously), but data roaming is off.
Network Mode is 4G only.
Network was set to Automatic, although I think I had to trick it into finding Pure Talk at one time.

Under Advanced,
Access point was typed in as RESELLER.

Then under the SMS and MMS settings, SMIL is off, my MMSC and Proxy are the same as above, but my APN again is set to RESELLER.

Oh yeah, no username or password in there.

Thank you, John and M8W.
As I kept adjusting settings, all of a sudden prior MMS test messages started coming through.
(I’m now on John’s settings.)
Almost ready to be my daily driver!
I appreciate your help and your time.

This is late advice, but maybe someone will see it later: once you change the settings, the cell connection has to be reset. For example, on android I had to reset all networks to get my MMSes to show up.

I have Signal working on a MNT Reform which uses the same SoC. It requires using Box64, but it works. You need to use a custom compiled version of the signal client or compile it yourself though.

Why not use WayDroid?

I have problems with calls but I don’t see “John’s” settings…, I mean I see your screenshots John, but did you have to edit the serviceprovideers.xml or the apns-conf.xml files to get your settings right?..If so, can you post them here?
Thank you!
