Ever since the last update I no longer boot normally. It’s pretty chaotic now. I get this now. to avoid this I have to immediately press ESC tthen #2 boot from hard drive. Everything was working fine until the last update. IMG_20200806_153801|666x500
Yes, I believe my grub config got messed up somehow. I posted a separate thread regarding my issue. I have a second laptop running PureOS (old Sony vaio) that had the same thing happen to it that you’re showing. I did a reboot and it came up okay (fortunately).
My reboots are not ok. I need to jump a few hurdles before my system starts. I hope a fix comes in soon?
No, no issues after the latest updates
It looks like this is the infamous “error: symbol `grub_calloc’ not found” bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=966575
Sadly this one is still under investigation and doesn’t have a straightforward solution yet (the bug report does have some potentially helpful tips. I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue yet though to actually test any of them).
Happened to me on Mint. Had to google the solution, which was re-install grub in a terminal window from the Mint install thumb drive. (Which means the old grub2, which means I’m vulnerable.)
Guess I’ll just wait for the next fix.
