Distros not present on Wikipedia - issues explained

Wikipedia lists nearly all Linux distributions on a specific graphic. PureOS is visible as “discontinued” and Mobian plus PostmarketOS are not even present. Below the picture there is a link to a repository where distributions are tracked to create such graphics. I wanted to create an issue, but cannot. I quote what is in the preset of “new issue”:

Will be added ONLY distributions that have a fullfilled page at the info archive […]

This page doesn’t work well for me - maybe blocking fingerprints destroy it for me (I enabled scripts, page still broken). So if anyone wants to give a look, so that PureOS and Mobian can be added to the git repository and be displayed on Wikipedia, that would be a good thing I guess. PostmarketOS is already added, but the new version is not released on Wikipedia yet (I think they update once a year).

Mobian is a project aiming to port Debian to mobile devices, and thus should not be separated from the Debian operating system.

Nothing new to me, but it is still one of the most important forks (it increases the range of devices to the mobile sector - in this view “important”) and should be listed as such. There is may one day when Mobian becomes obsolete when Debian can handle everything itself, but to this date it should be listed.

What it looks like to me …

  • Some weird distro called “PureOS (Linux Live Kit)” - which says “not to be confused with PureOS by Purism” and it links to https://pureos.org (which doesn’t exist and that might explain why it is “discontinued”), and
  • Another distro called “PureOS” that we know and love  - which won’t show up because almost none of the details are filled in, not even the name, but the page does exist in the “info archive” and a couple of links to https://pureos.net are filled in.

So what might be needed is for someone to fill in at least a few more details in “info archive”. Or email the guy using the provided email address and specifying at least some basic details.

That explains a lot of things. Would be nice if someone can fill in these information. Not so much for us, but for the public it’s nice to have a full overview. That picture is not just used on English Wikipedia, but also on other languages.

There used to be a made-in-France distro called PureOS that went inactive, I believe. Purism probably got the rights to the name.

At the moment, it definitely looks a separate OS. When they merge, we could reconsider.
