Electric 'pulse' while charging

Hi,

When I’m charging the librem, using the trackpad I’m getting some minor electrical charge sometimes (sorry my english may not be accurate for this).

thanks

Are you referring to electrostatic discharge?

it may be something like that indeed.
to be more precise it happens when my fingers are on the edge inside the trackpad.
And, maybe it is not related, when I’m having a phone call or sending/receiving text message near to the librem the all screen is flashing with the interferences around. :s

Librem’s case is made of aluminium, so make sure to use earthed (grounded) electrical sockets (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_(electricity))! Also, call electrician to check your installations. I’m serious about this.

I haven’t noticed this, but I think it’s somewhat normal.

@QiZhi, are there any news?

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, I was AFK for a while.
I finally open the librem to check inside, and after that it has reduced a lot.
It is only happening while moving a finger on the edge around the trackpad. Now it is very minor sometimes.

I found that, although I haven’t experienced any shocks, the laptop almost seems to vibrate when charging it with the included charger (indicating a similar issue). Using my old charger relieves me from this problem, so it might be due to a grounding problem with regards to the charger’s connector (the old one fills up the port completely, while the new one stick out, allowing for possible connections to the chassis).

For me, it’s only a minor gripe, but does anyone know whether there are adapters to shorten the connector?

I found the same issue when I am charging. I also experienced this with my MBP so I assume it is a result of a shoddy earthed connection.

An electrician I asked said that most probably some electrical connections aren’t set up properly.

Can’t speak for all laptops but the two I have (not Librem), react in no way to the radio frequencies emitted from my cell phone.

Though this thread is 1.5 years old, the electrical issue still seems to persist (based on @vrata 's comment from above).
Does the interference issue still persists, did anyone tested this?

the same thing is happening to me again, and like beFree I have interference with radio frequencies from my cell phone only with my Librem.
