Flashing mobian on L5

You can use librem5-flash-image (which got updated in Debian yesterday) and pass it the image file. Make sure you use at least version 0.0.5.

Sounds like that information should be added into the Debian Wiki.

I get that the very same librem5-flash-image script, that very file, have certain config variables in terms of URL addresses hosting installation media images and u-boot. Skipping the config is possible. Why? The script itself have a --skip-download command parameter, which uses a local image and u-boot. Problem is that where would that local image and u-boot be? Would they be in the --dir DIR command parameter? Does anyone know how to manually configure the script/parameters in order to install Mobian?

To be fair, I think Mobian might be restricted to the Phosh DE by compatibility fault. I wanted a XFCE, no matter how small it be. I could zoom in the scale when needed. Plus, I might be able to access more services, but Mobian is not so different from PureOS mobile on certain aspects. I think I will give up on installing Mobian and work with the current OS.

Below are some links about similarity claims between Mobian and PureOS on Librem 5.

You can switch to another DE via apt install … and configuring the DM appropriately. (Same works with PureOS, just the versions are older)

Mobian may have a better chance to support DMs and DEs. The problem is that the smartphone is a different beast. I doubt that there is support for a (organized) desktop XFCE DE design on a smartphone screen (you can tell that I’m not much of a smartphone person). I guess I just have to wait and see what comes up from interface development.

As for finding the correct values in terms of URL address or local directory hosting the Mobian image and u-boot, I guess I need to contact Mobian development about the librem5-flash-image script.

In case anyone is interested, Droidian seems to be a Android compatible version of Mobian? I am not sure what is the difference, but will wait and see what crops up.
