You’re just one edit of /etc/default/flash-kernel away from having four penguins there.

dos i edited the header imagen as too much penguins. So dos have to remove plymouths without break anything? i want penguins on booting.

Plymouth does not do anything when there’s no “splash” parameter in the kernel command line, and Linux does not show the penguins when there’s “quiet” parameter there.

May you enable it all then i testing? as looks like it outside user scope to enable it. At least i dont know on user space.

You can edit the kernel’s command line by editing /etc/default/flash-kernel and issuing sudo flash-kernel afterwards.

Thanks. :folded_hands:

So removing “splash” “quiet” from /etc/default/flash-kernel then sudo flash-kernel, fancy penguins on boot. Now my L5 look more Gnu.
So now the Librem 5 is ready for gnu linux 7.0 feature: custom logo.

Thank you dos

Very nice!

What about the penguin image itself, if you want to change that image to look different, how would that be done?

By patching the kernel (or since 7.0, recompilling it with a different config).

What’s the penguin holding? Looks like a toothbrush.

It is a body-brush, means that all the black parts of the original Linux were washed away by the brush. It is a penguin logo coming out of the washtub with lots of soap to remove all the heavy stain black parts of the original Linux.
Freedo needed a fancy brush because the sponge wasnt enough to remove all the black stains from Linux.

I’m not a person of color, but rather an ally for that community. I just want to extend a friendly word of caution that removing “heavy stain black parts” of the mascot’s skin may not be well received by people with darker skin complexions.

Yes i aware about it that it can be misinterpreted.

And just to confuse matters, penguins naturally have white parts and black parts in their plumage. The Little Penguin, Eudyptula minor, believed to be the inspiration of the Linux logo, is in fact slate-blue and white. So an all white penguin would be rather unnatural.

Perhaps “dirty” would be a more politically correct word to use in your imagery.
