Plymouth does not do anything when there’s no “splash” parameter in the kernel command line, and Linux does not show the penguins when there’s “quiet” parameter there.
So removing “splash” “quiet” from /etc/default/flash-kernel then sudo flash-kernel, fancy penguins on boot. Now my L5 look more Gnu.
So now the Librem 5 is ready for gnu linux 7.0 feature: custom logo.
It is a body-brush, means that all the black parts of the original Linux were washed away by the brush. It is a penguin logo coming out of the washtub with lots of soap to remove all the heavy stain black parts of the original Linux. Freedo needed a fancy brush because the sponge wasnt enough to remove all the black stains from Linux.
I’m not a person of color, but rather an ally for that community. I just want to extend a friendly word of caution that removing “heavy stain black parts” of the mascot’s skin may not be well received by people with darker skin complexions.
And just to confuse matters, penguins naturally have white parts and black parts in their plumage. The Little Penguin, Eudyptula minor, believed to be the inspiration of the Linux logo, is in fact slate-blue and white. So an all white penguin would be rather unnatural.
Perhaps “dirty” would be a more politically correct word to use in your imagery.
