A lot of the < to go back to previous screens simply refuse to work - still.
My way out is to Power Off, wait, Power On, and if I have the same frustrating screen then I Power Off, pull battery, wait, set battery back in (keep back off for duration - in case), and try again. If they don’t already have one, but CTRL - Alt - Del would be handy.
FYI - It doesn’t matter - I have tried gentle tap, harder taps, space between taps, what ever - short of using feathers or hammer to fix this.

and I replace the back.. for it’s safety and my privacy - of course
It’s random screens - sometimes the < works, sometimes not right away, other times not at all.
I never thought of using Up to go Back. I’ll try that next time I see it.
I’ve noticed some apps, when they pop up a small dialog box for selecting this or that, the dialog doesn’t have a “back” button. So for those you have to minimize (by swiping up), then swipe away the popup to get back to the app’s main view.
I’ve noticed recently (Crimson?) a behavior where the popup is hidden by the main window, and you have to swipe up to select the popup. Reviewing what software center has upgraded shows this.
Yes, and thanks for the help. It doesn’t sit well when viewing a image and want to go back or forward and the < or > don’t show up at all, or intermittent, or back out of a tree.
I don’t think it counts as a solution but it’s the long way around what don’t work.
