I was surprised by the monarchistic name choice ‘Kings Cross’ for our freedom loving cli.

It might be a pun:
King’s Cross railway station, also known as London King’s Cross, is a passenger railway terminus in the London Borough of Camden, on the edge of Central London. The terminus of one of the major rail routes between London and the North.

I see what you did there
Could have also been any of these stand out names for a terminal (plenty to choose from):
- Cockfosters
- Elephant & Castle
- Harrow-on-the-Hill
- Waterloo [also terminus]
or… - Heathrow Terminal 5

The name is very fitting because as users of libre technology we are all kings over our own technology.

I thought it was a Harry Potter reference

That made this particular terminus more widely known, and may have been why they selected that terminus above others.
