IDEA: E-Ink version of the L5 ... a demo ...

// EDIT! Before the mod nazis drop in on this one, this is NOT spam. I am NOT promoting this product nor am I associated with it in any way. I ran into this device for the first time and want to toss the idea out for discussion and brain storming for the guys here.

Now that I got your attention, here is an existing demo of the PaperS3 device:

Any electronics engineers here want to speculate about hacking the guts of the L5 with the S3 (or other vendor) ePaper display units?

This looks like the manufacturers website (the usual suspects in Asia): m5-docs

And I guess it is alread EOL, however: [EOL] M5PaperS3 ESP32S3 Development Kit (960x540, 4.7" eInk Display, 2– m5stack-store

Maybe Purism might be interested in releasing an L5 Remix version with this type of display, increase the display size a bit and add TWO BATTERIES (or more!) and market it as an easy on the eyes extremely low power ePhone. An eReader and Smartphone device. Maybe call it a SmartReader?

And, by the way. Phones come with two sims. Why can’t we get an L5 remix with more than one battery (multiple slots one battery type)?

I would absolutely love this and it would qualify the chonk of the device by virtue of the battery requirements. You would want to run off of one battery at a time to allow for hot swapping batteries so additional circuity would be required, but I would find this super useful.
