Incorrect Details on Site [But it Benefits the Customer]

If we purchase a Librem Drive (the little flash drive with the rotating end) from this link: USB Flash Drive – Purism

It says in Help me choose that these are 16GB flash drives. But I just bought one and it is 32GB.

I also have a previous one that I like, which came with my Librem 14 as I recall, and that old one is also 32GB.

This is nice and I am OK with the 32GB but we should fix the Purism Shop to be more accurate for customers.

Have you contacted Purism directly about this?

No, I figured I would use the forum for feedback. What’s the better way?

If you are going to use the forum for feedback then you should tag @JCS in order to draw his attention to the specific post.

The official way is via the Contact page.

Whether that is “better” in this case or in general is debatable.

Note that while in general this incorrect detail “benefits the customer”, if the customer intends to

  • clone an effectively read-only flash drive to make a backup copy immediately after delivery, or
  • clone to make a backup of a read-write flash drive at any time

then having an unpredictable size could be a minor nuisance to the customer - either because the backup won’t fit or because the backup will take longer (in this case, twice as long).

Thanks for the report! I put this on our internal task tracker to get it fixed.

(We aren’t always able to review every forum thread, so the contact instructions are most reliable, but I’ve got this one :slightly_smiling_face: )
