International shipping insurance

Hello,

I’m thinking about ordering a Librem 13 and ship it to France. At checkout I have the choice between:

  • International Shipping (via USPS Priority Mail Express Intl): $80.00
  • International Shipping with Insurance (via USPS Priority Mail Express Intl): $155.00

What is the exact difference between these two options? If I take the first one and the package is lost would I just lose my money?

I asked this question to info@puri.sm and here’s the answer I’ve got:

Hi Marc,

Basically, if the package is lost, and USPS can’t trace it by any means, we won’t be refunded for that package (and neither would you) if there is no insurance. If there’s an insurance, the cost of the lost package is covered by the USPS. To be honest, we still didn’t have any lost packages.

Best regards
