Is It Google AI Or L5? - Who Is Right

I couldn’t find how to set phone to buzz so I asked Google.

How do I set Liberm 5 cell phone to buzz?

The answer is typical of a AI.

Ahem… There is no “System sounds & vibrations” in my Settings > just “Sound” and there is nothing in Settings > “Sound” mentioning buzz, vibrate, shake or rattle or roll.

Where would Google find that erroneous data? From Puri?

BTW, I’ll search here later. I’ll be busy opening my new desktop.

There is nothing like a mistake. Mistake means there is some will/intention to do an action. AI has no such things. It is just a calculator that calculates an output that may or may not matches our expectations. And most L5 topics are very niche, so there is not much trainings data for AI and since it is just a calculator, it also doesn’t understand the difference between Librem 5 or any kind of smartphone. So if you ask a question that is typical for a smartphone, you will get a generic answer about a smartphone with Android or iOS system and no specific one for L5.

It is kinda funny. People use AI, because they think AI is smart and can help better with questions than a generic online search, especially when they cannot find the answer easily. But AI is only good at easy questions (where common search works just fine) and is often useless on specific niche questions, where people expect the most benefit.

I would say 98%+ of all questions, there is no benefit in using AI (maybe in time saving sometimes, but even than it’s usually better to read a Wikipedia article etc).

To your question Sharon:
You’re probably looking for mobile config → feedback.

I think you mean ‘mobile settings → feedback’.

That’s why I ask, always, sources!

I gather then that Googles Artificial Intelligent Idiot got it’s data from Puri.

Try getting Google AI sources for the answer. I tried. You might have better luck.
It gave a source for it’s result. It’s source is Puri documentation. Still not the answer.

Let me clear the air. I rarely use any of Google’s AI interventions, or any AI.
When using Google for a search, often, Google AI answers anyway.
Google didn’t make a mistake. What it did find, was the answer, and good answer at that and that most likely came right out of it’s search through Puri.

If the Google AI is used, it’s still GIGO.. Same with other AIs - results are plagiarized, and wordsmith a tad.

Many big domains are complaining that Google uses the complainants data off the complainants site before listing web sites associated with the search query.

In my search Google AI added

For more specific instructions or if you encounter different menu names, you may need to refer to the official Purism support documentation or community forums for the most up-to-date information on your specific PureOS version.

Well - that answers that.

The resulting answer source is clear. “Puri Documentation”. So sayeth the AI.

Which leaves me wondering, just where can one set the phone to buzz/vibrate pick a term.

@lwriemen
There is no ‘mobile settings → feedback’ buzz related on this L5.
@Ick
There is no 'mobile config → feedback’ on this L5

Oh well. Vibrate would probably just waste more battery time anyway. :sad_but_relieved_face:

Isn’t it what you’re looking for?

As Iwriemen said, I mean mobile settings. That was a wording mistake previously, because people spoke about Firefox mobile config before. Anyway, click on the down-arrows on the right side (probably a new page on your device) and try the setting in the mid (should be called “quiet”).

See ‘quiet’:

and see ‘feedback profile’*:

*The version I am using is higher so there may be a few inconsequential differences.

I followed the instructions, and had someone call. I could hear the buzz, barely. I don’t feel much of any vibration. IMO - it’s too quiet ands any vibration / buzzing is Meh.

I laugh in crowed places and someone’s phone goes off with the default sound and 5 people check their phones.

OK, so much for that.

Thanks to those for the help - I really do appreciate it,
