I am using PureOS Plasma Version can anyone let me know that is using chromium because it is open source and available in software center as open source while chrome is closed source.
So using Chromium which is an open source is safe at all ?
Thank you
Basically Chromium is just the good stuff, with all of Googles proprietary spyware stripped off and it has been packaged by Debian devs, and Debian frowns on spyware. I think that it is relatively safe to use, but I would be careful what extensions you install and of course change the default search engine to DuckDuckGo or something similar and if you use any of the Google services like gmail or YouTube, change your preferences at https://myactivity.google.com to avoid the data collection.
I installed Chromium from the Linux Mint software manager, opened it, did some brief browsing, changed some settings, including disallowing all cookies and turning off “Safe Browsing”…i.e. “Unsafe/non-private Browsing”…then closed Chromium.
My network DNS resolver, controlled by Pi-Hole, is Quad9.
In the Pi-Hole dashboard, I started blacklisting Google connections as they popped up, causing them to make further connection attempts.

Then I purged Chromium…and needed a shower!
P.S. I don’t know if the version of Chromium packaged in PureOS is different from the one in Linux Mint, but someone can certainly test it the way I did, if they want.
yes as I researched the reason behind saving activity to show perfect results according to search history they collect keywords for data use while they do not collect your passwords, personal information or other info so obvious google collect search keywords it is not unsecure at all
So Last chromium seems secure and perfect thanks all of you…
