Lapdock Kit restock

The dock that I received in 2024ish when I ordered on NEX website has wireless and bluetooth, but it seems to be highly targeted at Android rather than Phosh / Linux phones. Even more egregiously, there is no “radio off” mode even from a software standpoint. If I click the button for wired connections in settings, plug in a phone, then the phone turns off (goes to sleep) or disconnects, then the dock will respond by automatically jumping to the radio wifi/bluetooth mode.

That effectively means if you want it turned off, it never is. Might not matter for a lot of users, I tend to rather to be in control. Also, the wifi monitor display code seems to be proprietary and struggle greatly to work on Linux or even Windows, preferring on those systems to be treated as a second monitor but not really as a first/primary (MiraCast TV technology).

I have also had some instances where the keyboard system gets stuck in its bluetooth mode and refused to do the wired mode until I connect to it over bluetooth, click around while connected to a device, and then toggle back to wired.

So you’re not wrong that the experience of a wireless version could be good, but for me in this particular case it was sub-par.

Also, to some extent it undermines the effect of the kill switch for the WiFi on the Librem 5, assuming that you are carrying both devices.
