My beloved Librem 13 didn’t come up the other day. 1st thought was, that perhaps power wasn’t provided anymore so i ordered a new power supply - to no avail. A new battery is ordered, too.
Nevertheless: Does anyone know, wether a Librem 13 should start plugged in to power without a battery?
I confirm that Librem 13/15 can be operated even with the battery pack removed (had to use one this way for several months due to unavailability of the battery)
The only thing that would prevent it from powering on (with the battery removed) would be:
a faulty power supply (this can be tested with a multimeter by measuring the voltage on the barrel connector)
a broken or desoldered female connector on the Main Board (in which case possibly the battery is not the problem - it simply cannot be charged if no power)
a dead MBd (worst situation) Could be ordered as a part from Purism’s Support, but take-apart/replacement is to be done cautiously and requires some experience in maintenance
Thanks to both of you. Have taken the backlid apart, disconnected the batteryplug. Optically everything looks fine to my eye (battery’s connector sits fine).
When i plugged in the powercord for the 1st time, the white status-leds lid up for a split second then went dim again. Powering on by button doesn’t result in any reaction.
So i guess, unfortunately the simple steps (power plug, battery, optical inspection) are finished.
Mate, you nailed the coffin! Got a new spare power plug i didn’t test with battery disconnected. Directly started. Marvelous!
Will try reconnect battery and check wether she recharges again. If not, a new replacement one is already on the way. (Righdio, she also recharges - don’t no, why she didn’t yesterday.)
