Are there any power configurations or software adjustments that I need to be aware of when I install a new battery?
Also, when making long storage plans for the laptop what should be done for preparation…as far as maintaining battery integrity.

AFAIK, as long as your power output on the new battery matches the old one, you should be good for system settings.
RE storage: just charge the battery (80% is good) and, if practical, disconnect it. Make sure you store the device somewhere that won’t drop below 40 or exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and you should be good to go.
