Librem 13v2 w/Qubes 2.3 HDMI external monitor not working

I have a 1920x1080 external monitor with a display port on it. I purchased an HDMI to display port cable but when I connect the laptop and the monitor together, nothing happens. The Displays settings dialog doesn’t show the other monitor as being detected.

Is there something obvious I’m missing? When I push F7 and Fn+F7 all I get is the Displays settings dialog. Does anybody have any idea about what might be going on?

Do you have both the HDMI connector and the power connector of the converter dongle hooked up securely to the laptop? If so, perhaps you can try powering the dongle separately from a phone charger, to rule out possible laptop power limitations.
