My librem 14 freezes up after a few minutes of use on a fresh PureOS install. I am forced power off the laptop to get it to work again but it always reoccurs.
I am also unable to run memtest from the pureboot menu
I’ve got a brand new Librem 14, and over maybe 2-3 hours of total use so far, it has frozen 3 times.
The machine was cool to the touch, so it’s not overheating or anything.
First 2 times happened on the machine in the state it was delivered in.
Last time was after replacing the RAM and SSD with upgraded components, installing PureOS onto that drive and installing all software updates.
I’ve also double checked versions of Pureboot and EC and everything is on the latest version.
Thanks to FLOSS FOSS philosophy of Gaming with Users and producing Poor Quality Software and Hardware the results are these. I have a Librem 14 and i know what going on and i know what i saying too…IMHO.
I had assumed that email was dead, as I’ve not received any responses to any questions/issues (mostly regarding L5) all year. That’s the only reason I’m on the forums…
I did find this old thread which seems to suggest it’s a known issue that is fixed in Crimson:
But, seems insane that such a critical issue has not been fixed with a backport or something years after the hardware was released.
Worst thing is that I lose work everytime it freezes. I’m guessing the FS writes are buffered and it fails to flush to disk when the system freezes.
OK, managed to email directly the person involved with the order originally. Apparently there’s a rare defect where the factory forgot to cover something, trying to figure out now if it’s the same issue. So, probably not the xwayland issue mentioned in that other thread.
