Librem 14 Updates in terminal

In the terminal running “sudo apt update” I get the following errors…

E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock. It is held by process 1087 (packagekitd)
N: Be aware that removing the lock file is not a solution and may break your system.
E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/

I ran sudo apt upgrade and sudo apt full-upgrade, but still get same result when running sudo apt update again. Any idea what is wrong?

Whenever this happens to me, it’s because the software center is checking for updates or installing something at the same time.

you have to remember that gnome periodically checks updates.
so in rare occasion lock is being set as gnome package manager fetching updates
