Can I install phosh-osk-stevia on a Librem 5 running Crimson? If so, is it possible to switch between Stevia and Squeekboard if I need to? Thanks!
Interesting idea. The obvious hints to do that: https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/stevia/
I provided instructions here:
Here are my findings. The switchout of keyboards was nice and easy!
So, I was able to install phosh.osk.stub. However, it doesn’t detect the uim anthy Japanese input. Likewise, the keyboard doesn’t come up if it need to authenticate (login keyring). The word prediction is nice!
Phosh.osk.stevia could not be built in Crimson using the gitlab instructions. The packages are too old in the Crimson repository and don’t meet the minimum version requirements. Sadly, I couldn’t test this one more.
Squeekboard doesn’t do Japanese kanji or recognize uim anthy. If uim anthy is installed, the keyboard doesn’t come up if it need to authenticate (login keyring). If I uninstall uim anthy, everything works as normal and I can authenticate. Love the terminal keyboard in Squeekboard.
So far, I seem stuck on getting Japanese fully working on a Librem 5. ![]()
Hopefully with Dawn you’ll get further with Stevia
