Librem 5 is not reading SIM card anymore

With HKS on does that mean that the switch such that the power is disabled to the antenna for cell service? (or how ever it works). Got a mint mobile sim, I put the sim in before it was activated and the phone read it. I took it out thinking that I needed to get a number off it and then I put the sim back in. I probably did this while the phone was on. After putting it back in the sim isn’t recognized. I tried the old sim it also didn’t work. I tried it a 2nd time and it did work. I tried leaving the phone off with the wireless disabled and that didn’t help. Now Im trying it again so that the kill switch isn’t disabling the service. I didn’t take the sim out either time, I just turned the phone off removed the battery and let it sit for a few mins. It didn’t work either time. Would this somehow be something that mint mobile is doing? Or something with the phone. Too tired to deal with now. Will check back tomorrow.

The kill switch cuts power to the cellular modem module.

Yes, you might have fried something by removing the SIM card with the phone powered on. If so, you aren’t the first.

I had same problem: burned my SIM card because opened the trail while L5 turned on. I had to buy a new SIM card and learned lesson! No idea why Purism didn’t use HW protection allowing hot change..:man_shrugging:
