Librem 5 Screen Cleaning and Protectors

I recently received another spare Librem 5 order to provide myself with an additional set of parts for whenever I inevitably drop and break my Librem 5. But when I opened it up, one of the first things that I did was touch the screen one time before remembering that I did not yet put a screen protector onto the device.

In hindsight, now it makes me a little bit sad how perfectly clean the rest of the screen looks in comparison to the one finger smudge. So I want to install a screen protector but I’m also interested in how much screen cleaning other people do, what they see as best practices for Librem 5 screen cleaning, etc. Every time I ordered a backup Librem 5, I ordered spare screen protectors. So I think I have maybe 5 extra screen protectors that I could apply at this point. But in the past, I had one Librem 5 arrive where it came with the screen protector on it from the factory, and I never removed it because they did a better job than I do. Then I had another one where I installed the screen protector, and it was bad. There were little micro bubbles that I was chasing and pushing around to get them out for days. At this point it’s basically fine, but there is a corner that is coming off.

How do you guys handle this? Do you prefer your device to arrive with Screen Protector on it, or to install the Screen Protector yourself? Do you even use a Screen Protector? I also ordered a privacy screen at one point for fun, but I never bothered to install it on any of the Librem 5s because there was not a backup and it shipped as one single privacy screen, and I didn’t want to do it wrong, so I kept forgetting to install it.

Generally, a splash of water with a currently worn t-shirt every two weeks. For deeper cleans, I use a damp bath towel every three months or so.

I did not have a choice for the former when I ordered my Librem 5 USA years ago, so I had to manually install the privacy screen myself.

Yes, although not the ones provided.
