Librem 5 - Wayland Firefox support

I was reading https://puri.sm/posts/librem-5-touch-and-web-browsing/ and it stated a problem with using Firefox and Chromium under Wayland. However, the new version of Ubuntu (17.10) has just come out, and defaults to using Wayland. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m guessing that they wont have released a new version of Ubuntu that can’t run Firefox or Chromium.

I’d really like to see Firefox on the Librem 5 when it comes out. Is this likely to happen?

With wayland on gnome and in general on desktops there is some thing called xwayland, which enables “old” x applications, like firefox for now, to be run in an wayland gnome session which runs an x server in the background and then draws the x output on the wayland desktop.
this is good for compatibility but may not be desired on a phone as i would expect it to be more recourse depending. but i think firefox is working on wayland support. so it will come. but its not there as far as i know
