I bought a librem mini not long ago and haven’t used it much cause life has been busy for me. I recently been using it and notice the display cuts out on me. Its really bad when I try to watch youtube. I dont have anything fancy for a monitor, a 1440p monitor, and Im using hdmi 2.0 ports, cables are fine, been used before with other computers and monitors, never an issue.
I need to get this issue resolved. I aim to use my mini for financial purposes, so this is a lil crazy for me. As I write this my screen is flashing black, on and off, constantly. This is not acceptable for me. Sometimes I use this for an hour and I never see this, but then like today, Its gone black at least 12 times in the last 30 min.
Why is this happening and how can I fix this. If I cant get it fixed, how long before I cant return the mini? I would rather save 800$ and buy a PI if that will work. I dont need fancy, just need privacy and for the device to actually work without issues. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Issues like this very often are cause by bad HDMI/DisplayPort cables. Can you try another cable?
Another reason could be a borderline video mode. Maybe try selecting a different resolution or refresh frequency?

I checked the cables, they work fine. I did test the HDMI and the DP and they both check out. The monitor is only 2k, but your device is rated for 4k and at 60fps. I have issues on both 50 fps and 60 fps as well as 100 fps. The freesync/gsync feature is off and still the device’s display cuts out. I have the video mode feature disabled as well. Not sure what else I can do to address the issue.
I appreaciate any help you folks can offer.
Cheers.

It seems when the black out occurs, if I gently give the machine a tap, the image immediately returns. I can’t help but wonder if there is a short somewhere, or simply, a poor solder connection (joint) somewhere.
If I had just purchased this device, 3 months ago? Will Purism be willing to swap the unit for cost of shipping? I really like the computer and want to keep it but want one that doesn’t have this issue. I would really appreciate a reply. Thanks
